Canada Post Flat Box Rate on Ebay
I will be the first to admit, that when eBay and Canada Post came out with the new CP flat box rate in the new eBay boxes I was a little skeptical.
However, if you are mailing anything over 1.5 kgs to a USA customer on ebay it is worth it.
The flat rate box allows you to stuff what ever will fit in it up to 11 pounds (5kgs) for a flat rate of 17.99 to anywhere in the US (right now they have a special rate of 15.99 til mid August)
I personally ship often in the 2 kg range and it is usually at least $18-20.00. Plus I am always trying to find a box that fits what I am selling.
You can purchase the boxes at 3 for 1.95 CAD and that includes shipping to your door. Even if you don't use the boxes for actual ebay shipping they are a great price at .65 each. Sheesh I spend more on envelopes some times. They are great for storage and archive too!
They are also great for shipping small US packet rates too and fall under the dimensions for shipping small packets, providing your package still weighs under the 1 kg (in this case,you may want to consider to cut them and flip inside out so you don't have any abuse from the postal worker regarding proper usage of the very colorful ebay box.)
Now when it comes to using these boxes in Canada they have some great rates for Canada too but I would still double check based on actual weight to make sure you wouldn't get it cheaper shipping regular weight. But if you live in western Canada and you are shipping east it will also be worth while.
Another great feature of the ebay box is when you are ready to ship, you just do it all through paypal including payment and the label will be pre printed with both sender and receiver addresses and show barcodes and paid in full. Oh I like that, no more address typing.
Boxes are sent expedited too and are insured and trackable. I think they even email the customer for you.
For applying the label, you may want to stop at your local post office and pick up some free CP clear packing/address slip sleeves. These hold the label in place and is a perfect finish.
Once the label is on, you can drop these in the mail box, no more standing in line.
