Can-eh? Can-Artistry

Newsletter 1

Greetings to all Can-eh? Can-Artistry members.

Welcome to Can-eh? And welcome to your first Can-eh? newsletter.

I would like to firstly, Thank-you for joining this very new art group.

I commend all of you for being open minded when signing up on a blank screen and not knowing what you were signing up for. I had started to think I had made a mistake about not showing a public site, but I was concerned about having the wrong type of members signing up for this new venue.
However, now in hindsight, I realize keeping Can-eh? private was a smart thing to do. Not only did I hand pick a great collage of members, but you are chance takers, you go all out on a whim and you are going to be the innovators of this incredible Canadian art movement.

The basic charter of Can-eh? is to have a place for Canadian Artists, crafters, and vendors to share, and learn to promote their products and selves. As well a place to have fun, meet new friends and challenge ourselves creatively.

Far too often we are grouped into American ideals, American groups and selling to American customers.

Canadian buyers are still a little reserved when it comes to shopping on the internet. I strongly feel that if we have an “All Canadian content” site, this will encourage an increase of Canadian buyers.

As we are just getting started on Can-eh? we are in, what I am calling “Phase 1”

Phase 1 was to get the basic membership in place before going public.
I wanted to have a good mix of talent, in a variety of mediums, from the novice, to the seasoned experts, and everything in between.

The basic forum is in place with room to grow based on individual needs.
We will expand on things like selling sites, shipping methods, packaging and hopefully in the future we can gain strength in numbers when it comes to shipping costs.

Teaching and sharing techniques is another area I would like to expand with a school for beginners in selling and or new products.

Most of the member profiles have some content and others have maxed their page right from the very beginning.
It has been a pleasure reading through everyone’s profiles, blogs, photo albums etc in hopes of learning more about you.

The members I meet now will surely be the ones I get to know the best.

Our membership demographics are equally impressive from coast to coast and include the territories! Wow, from the small town ‘ness to the urban metropolis is wonderful! Every where you are, sounds exotic to me and yet it is all Canada. Who knew?

Phase 1 also includes getting some advertiser sponsors in place to fill the home page with a variety of opportunity and rounded content.
Advertising by sponsors will help to pay for any costs incurred with running the site, as well help for future endeavors.

The perk advertising is for promoting our members and rewards for a variety of project input and “volunteerism”. We haven’t worked all the details yet, but a basic plan is in place and you can find more info on the forum topic: Advertising.

So I am confident we are on our way to completing our goal of Phase 1.

So confident, that I feel we are ready to open for public viewing.

We will be going public August 10th (in one week aka next Sunday)

Public means that anyone viewing the site will be able to see your profiles, read the forum comments and posts etc. They still must be a member to participate, and must be a Canadian Artist, crafter or related products vendor in order to become a member.
Current members are free to invite new members.
Memberships will still require approval. membership will always be free.

Please be sure to work on your profile so that it looks how you want others to see it.

A reminder:
No one can see the private questions you were asked at sign up. They are only visible by you and the administrators.

If you are a blogger, I encourage you to add the Can-eh? badge to your blog or website and if you have room, be sure to add your slide show. Oh and any plugs about Can-eh? will be good for all of us.

I will be adding a Member Checklist to the forum topics shortly, be sure to look it over and be sure to have some of the basic things done, like adding your avatar, add some photos, give us the links to your selling venues etc. Tell us more; write things on your “in house” Can-eh blog on your profile.

If you need some help in this area, do not hesitate to ask and I will help you right away.

There are many upcoming Phases of the Can-eh? Can-Artistry experience.

I will give you just a few tidbits of where we are headed next:

Phase 2:

Lydia’s Reveal.
A bi-monthly art challenge. Lydia will give us a theme, subject or topic for which any member in any medium can create an art piece as their interpretation. Members will vote on the best piece and the winning member will receive an advertising package.

Lydia will also have a separate art review with virtual award recognition.

The challenges are scheduled to start September 1st, we will be posting more information very soon here on the forum.

Phase 3

Vendor internet shopping mall:

Goal is for October 1st opening, so do stay tuned.

The shopping mall will be a separate Can-eh? website, hosting our artists and vendors.

This will only be a gateway to your current selling venues. However you will be listed in up to 5 different categories with your banner links direct to your shops or websites.

Ohh yeah, did I mention it will be free to all members?

Phase 4, 5, 6

Includes a public customer forum, an international sellers forum (aka The CannaBees), and a full member website with shopping carts and direct selling.

I will only arouse your curiosity at this point, with more details to come.

This newsletter will be archived here on the forum available for future reference.
Your comments, ideas, and suggestions will be graciously accepted.

Newsletter notification will only be sent when there is a significant amount of content and information that requires your review.

I would much rather communicate on the forum or blogs as new things come up, so I am guessing on average you will see a newsletter notice sent to your email address approx every 6-8 weeks.

In closing, I would like to encourage that you try to be reasonably active on the forum, please feel free to start your own groups or participate in others and mostly maintain your profile page.

The more noise you make, the more we want to know about you, and the more opportunity for sales both from members and customers.

A pleasure to meet all of you, I look forward to getting to know you better!

((((hugs))))
